As we prepare to celebrate 20 years of Super Girl, we’ve seen an incredible response from the community, along with understandable questions and concerns surrounding concert registration, capacity and what attendees can expect this weekend.

We’ve been listening, and we want to provide some clarity.

Super Girl is STILL a Free Festival

Super Girl has been a free, community-focused event for 20 years, and that has not changed.

A registration is not required to attend the general Super Girl Festival or its programming. There is so much to experience throughout the weekend that does not require registration, including the world’s largest women’s professional surfing competition featuring 180 female surfers, professional skateboarding and inline skating, 750+ girls and women competing across 10 sports, the Festival Village, brand activations and shopping, fitness and wellness classes at the #GOALS Stage, the Female Art Expo, food and beverage options, and more.

We encourage everyone to come out, enjoy the festival, support the incredible athletes and participants, and join us in celebrating and empowering women.

Addressing the Concert Registration Changes

We also want to directly address concerns that registrations were canceled in an effort to require guests to purchase VIP tickets. That is not the case.

Due to the overwhelming response to this year’s headliners, limited adjustments were made to a small portion of free concert registrations to help us responsibly manage attendance during the highest-demand evening performances safely.

The free registrations were not purchases nor guarantees of admission. Admission to the concert area remains subject to venue capacity.

Additionally, a canceled registration does not mean you are required to purchase VIP to attend Super Girl.

For those planning to join us Friday, registration will not be required to attend Friday’s concerts.

We encourage everyone attending throughout the weekend to arrive early, enjoy the festival and support the incredible female athletes and artists participating throughout the event.

General Admission and VIP Are Separate Experiences

There has also been some confusion surrounding the VIP Experience and General Admission.

The General Admission concert area is located in the amphitheater, while the VIP Experience is located separately on the pier. Because these are separate areas, VIP attendance does not take away General Admission capacity inside the concert area.

VIP was introduced this year to give attendees who choose to purchase it an opportunity to experience Super Girl from a different perspective with guaranteed viewing opportunities. The registration adjustments were not made to create additional space for VIP guests. They were made solely to support the safety and responsible management of General Admission attendance. VIP availability is extremely limited on the pier.

An Additional Way to Experience the Concerts

We know not everyone who wants to see an artist may be able to enter the concert area, particularly once capacity is reached.

To give more attendees an opportunity to enjoy the performances, Super Girl will host a live concert watch party in the main festival village lot adjacent to the concert venue. This features a large LED screen along with food and beverage vendors.

This provides another way to experience the concerts while remaining part of the festival atmosphere.

What We’re Doing to Support a Safe Experience

The response to Super Girl’s 20th anniversary has been tremendous, and the safety and well-being of our attendees, athletes, artists, staff and community remains our highest priority.

Therefore, we have increased security throughout the event site and are taking additional measures to responsibly manage crowds and venue capacity.

As a family-friendly event, Super Girl will also maintain a zero-tolerance policy for disorderly or unsafe behavior that could negatively impact the experience of others.

How We’ll Keep Attendees Updated

We recognize that clear, timely communication is especially important this weekend.

Throughout the event, we will use our social media accounts to provide real-time updates regarding concert-area capacity and other important information attendees should know before entering the venue.

We encourage everyone attending to follow our social channels throughout the weekend for the latest updates.  Instagram is our primary communication tool @supergirlpro

Looking Ahead

This is the first year we have implemented this registration approach, and we have heard the feedback surrounding the process and communication.

We appreciate everyone who has shared feedback with us and everyone joining us to celebrate 20 years of Super Girl. For those of you whose registrations were cancelled, we appreciate your understanding as this was an unfortunate but necessary step to ensure the health and safety of everyone at the event.

Our goal remains what it has been for the past two decades: to create an exciting, welcoming and safe experience that brings the Oceanside community together while providing an incredible platform for women in sports, music, and culture.

We look forward to celebrating with you at the Super Girl Festival this weekend.
